Mission-Minded Children

About Work & Witness
The Work & Witness program was organized in 1972 by World Mission
as a result of so many laymen wanting to assist in World Mission
endeavors. Nazarene laymen interfacing with other Nazarene laymen
in various world areas was the perfect combination to a successful
program. Over 2,000 churches, 250 parsonages, and 15 schools
have been built by Work & Witness.
Every year over 7,000 people invest their
skills, talents and abilities in the challenge of missions through
Work & Witness! Teams of 10 to 40 people spend anywhere from
10 days to 3 weeks on assignment around the world and at home.
Assignment opportunities include construction,
healthcare (medical teams), evangelism, agriculture and education.
Project funds, transportation costs, food, housing and insurance
are provided by participating Work & Witness team members.
This amount ranges anywhere from $300 (domestic trip) up to $2,500
per
assignment, usually determined most by travel costs to get to the
location.

Creating Mission-Minded Children
Far off places and people always fascinate the
imagination. What games do children play in other countries? What
do they eat? Do they know about Jesus? How can we spread God's love
to them?
Here are some helpful ways to develop mission-minded
children:
- Give Children Missionary Heroes
Find out all you can about your L.I.N.K.S. missionaries and write
a booklet about them. Acquaint the children with people
like William
Carey, Jim Elliot, David Livingtone, Hudson Taylor or Oswald
Smith, who are great role models.
- Read Missionary Books
Our children need to be reading good books. Besides learning about
other cultures they will also learn about the importance of sharing
the story of Jesus.
- Involve Them in Faith Promise
Giving a Faith Promise offering for missions is an important part
of Christian living. Children can be involved by giving their
money to spread the gospel around the world.
- Teach Them to Pray
This is so vital! "The man or woman at home who prays, often
has much to do with the effectiveness of the missionary in the
field".
- Place a Priority on Spiritual Growth
If our children learn about being Christ-like and mature in their
faith, missions will automatically become a part of their
lifestyle.
