Nazarene Mission Facts
- The Church of the Nazarene is ministering in
146 world areas.
- There are 738 missionaries (including NIVS
and Tentmakers) in the Church of the Nazarene. These missionaries
originate from 31 world areas.
- As of March 2003, the Church of the Nazarene
has shown the JESUS film to 24 million people; 14.3 percent (3.4
million) of those viewing accepted Christ, and 35.4 percent of
the new converts have been involved in initial follow-up (discipleship).
- There are 197 Nazarenes in Volunteer Service
(NIVS), 239 Nazarenes On Call (NOC), and 19 Tentmakers ministering
around the world for the Church of the Nazarene.
- The Church of the Nazarene is third among denominations
in the number of short-term missionaries (2 weeks—2 years);
seventh in the number of missionaries; and third with presence

- The Church of the Nazarene ministers in more
than 150 languages and dialects and provides literature in 95
of these languages.
- The Church of the Nazarene entered the world
areas of Réunion (Africa Region) and Creative Access Areas
8 and 9 in 2003.
- In 2002, the Church of the Nazarene sent 593
Work & Witness teams, with a total of 10,349 participants.
This represents an estimated 366 years of labor.
- The district with the largest membership in
the Church of the Nazarene is the Guatemala North Verapaz District
with nearly 24,000 members.
- World Evangelism Broadcast ministers by radio,
television, and Internet with 88 programs in 62 countries in 37
languages and dialects. Coordinated through six regional communication
centers, radio continues to be the most widely used medium of
World Evangelism Broadcast to “Reach the Unreached.”
- In 2003, approximately 52,000 children in over
65 countries are being affected by Child Development Ministries
through training, education, and feeding.
- The Church of the Nazarene has 175 Compassionate
Ministries Centers and 1,088 Good Samaritan Churches in the United
States of America (U.S.A.) and Canada to help care for underprivileged
and hurting people.
- Alabaster funds 4 projects every week.
- It costs approximately $74 a minute to operate
the world mission program of the Church of the Nazarene.
- 48 percent of Nazarene churches in the
U.S.A. and 21 percent in Canada overpaid their World Evangelism
Fund in 2002 for an overpayment of U.S. $1,530,023 to help enter
new fields.
