James Heyward, Lead Vision Pastor James was born in Bronx, NY and raised in Capitol Heights, MD as an Air Force/ CIA brat until he moved to Boston at age 21 to prepare for ministry at Eastern Nazarene. He graduated from college in1993 (the 5.5 year plan) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Arts and a concentration in Religion. After much pursuit and hard work (stalker) he won the heart of Rose Nurse —the love of his life. Rose and James were married in December of 1992 and celebrated 13 wonderful years together last December they have two awesome kids—Jasmine 8 years & James III, (Jae) 3 years. James’ ministry experience of 20-yrs. has led him to two staff positions at two of the fasting-growing churches in the Church of the Nazarene (cushy jobs) as a Family and Youth Ministries pastor at Stillmeadow Church in York, PA, and Executive Vision Launch Pastor (which Jasmine his daughter called the “extra pastor”) at Salem Fields Community Church in Fredericksburg, VA. He also served his alma mater Eastern Nazarene College, Quincy, MA in the office of Admissions/Recruitment as the Director for 4 years. As the Lead Vision Pastor (fancy talk for senior pastor) at Calvary Church James helps the church fulfill God’s vision and mission of making sure the un-churched, de-churched and churched receive the Bread of Life—Jesus—at The Table (i.e. the Church) where believers are built-up, new converts are connected, and seekers are served. James spends his extra time (doesn’t have any) traveling the nation as a retreat, conference, and seminar speaker/leader. He also serves as the Regional President for Eastern USA NYI (Nazarene Youth International) and is a member of the Church of the Nazarene’s USA/Canada National Board.
